Status of Women in Islam. The significance and status of women in Islam are discussed in the current article. The first words when thinking about women that come to mind for many individuals are unequal oppressed and inferior. Women are still not seen as contributing members of society in the majority of locations in the world, particularly when it comes to making decisions or using their right to free expression. Islam do not considered women as unequal or less than males. With a specific emphasis on gender equality in Islam, this booklet presents the actual teachings of Islam with consideration to the roles, rights, and women responsibilities.

Allah starts to reveals the Islamic message to the holy Prophet, (S.A.W), in 610 CE in Mecca. Muhammad (S.A.W.) urged people to practice justice and mercy toward one another in addition to calling them to believe in a single God. He makes very special exchanges to the thoughts of the Arabs atheist with regards to how they treated women. Studying the correct interpretation of Islam and what it teaches about both genders (men and women) can help us act appropriately rather than making assumptions about other people.
Some of the aspects of women's life are given below;

Women Status Before and After Islam.

In fact, before to the rise of Islam, women frequently received worse treatment than animals! These teachings of the Qur'an were comprehensive since pagan Arabs used make women dance naked during their yearly fairs near the Kaaba, bury their female children alive, and treat women as nothing more than objects of sexual pleasure and mere chattels. Islam views men and women as being of the same essence because they were both born from a single soul, in contrast to other religions that believed women had intrinsic sin and evil while males had inherent virtue and nobility.

The opening verse of Surah An-Nisa is as follows:

Oh humanity! Respect your Guardian-Allah, who made you from a single soul, then made its mate from a similar substance, and from the two, countless men and women were scattered (like seeds); respect Allah, through whom you are demanding your common rights, and (revere) the wombs (That bore you), for Allah ever watches over you. Verse 1 of Surah 4 (An-Nisa:1)

Independent of Others A woman is an entirely separate personality in Islam. As a wife, a mother, a daughter and a sister, she is qualified to inherit. Thus, following the establishment of Islam, the Prophet's followers embraced his teachings and revolutionized society's perception of women. Women now have the ability to inherit in equal measure for the first time. As a result of the new social environment, women rediscover themselves and become highly engaged members of society, even participating in the conflicts that the pagan Arabs pushed against the newly formed Muslim Ummah.

Education.

In the 7th century, Muhammad (PBUH) said that the pursuing of knowledge is required for every Muslim, male and female. This announcement was quite clear, and Muslims throughout the history mainly stick to it. The wife of holy Muhammad (S.A.W) Ayesha,, was one of the Islam's most important intellectuals. Both women and men would travel to learn from Ayesha (R.A) after his passing because she was considered as one of the greatest Islamic teacher. Since most of the Islamic history, the women’s have been motivated to participate in academic activities and have had their work recognized.

The Social Dimension.

When I was a kid and a teenager the Quran banned this practice and regarded it as a crime on par with any other homicide, notwithstanding the societal acceptance of killer of female among some tribes of Arab. Additionally, when the female (baby) who was buried alive is questioned, it is revealed what crime she was slain for. The holy Quran condemns the behavior of such types of  parents who did not accept their female children by saying:

One of them becomes distraught and has a darkened expression when told that a female (child) has been born! He runs from his people in shame because of the unpleasant news he received! Should he bury her in the ground or keep her around out of (sufferance and) contempt? Oh, what a terrible (decision) they make.

Women As a Wife.

The Qur'an makes it very plain that wedding is a sharing between the two genders of society and that, in addition to ensuring the continuation of human existence, it also serves to promote emotional health and spiritual harmony. Love and mercy form its foundation. The Quran says that women have rights that are comparable to those of males above them and that men are a level above them.

Women As a Mother:

Islam ranked showing respect for parents above worshipping God. And we've commanded people to treat their parents well because his mother gave birth to him while already feeble.

Additionally, the Quran makes a special advice for treating mothers well:

Your Lord has commanded you to respect your parents and to worship no one else but Him. (Sacred Qur'an 17:23)

Who amongst all the people is the most deserving of my company, a man asked the holy Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). Your mother, the Prophet (PBUH) said. Then who else, the man said: Your mother, the Prophet (PBUH) said. Then, who else? the man questioned. Your mother, the Prophet (S.A.W) said. Then, who else? the man questioned. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) just then said the words, "Your father."( Both Muslims and Al-Bukhari)

The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) emphasized the worth of mothers by saying,

Heaven lies below your mother's feet.

Inheritance.

Women were denied the right to inherit before Islam, and they were viewed as men's property that should be passed down to them. Islam granted women the ability to inherit from family members and hold property, which was a novel idea in the 7th century.

Regardless of whether a woman is a mother, daughter, sister, or wife, she is entitled to a specific portion of the estate of her dead relatives. Her percentage share is determined by the deceased's relationship to her and the number of heirs. Islam guaranteed women the right to inherit while many communities around the world forbade it, demonstrating the global justice of Islam's divine law.

Financial Obligations.

In Islam, the women’s are not requisite to pay or work for food, housing or other daily needs. If a woman is married, her husband is responsible for providing all of her basic needs; if she is not in relation or married, her closest male relative is responsible for her (brother, father or uncle).

She also has the authority to start a career and make her own economic or financial decisions. The women’s are free to use their money out of goodwill, without the permission of her husband or any member of family. As one most prosperous businesswomen of Mecca, Khadija (R.A), the wife of the Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W), freely gave her money for the cause of Islam to her husband.

Marriage.

The woman has the choice to accept or reject marriage proposals, and the marriage contract cannot be finalized without her consent. She cannot be coerced into a marriage against her will, and if it does happen for cultural reasons, it goes against Islam. According to the same theory, women who are unhappy in their marriages also have the right to apply for a divorce. The Marriage is based on mutual love, compassion and harmony in Islam.

God says of Himself:

And of His signs is that He made for you from your partners so that you may find peace in them; and He implanted mercy and attachment between you. (Quran 30:21)

Muhammad (PBUH) is a role model for all Muslims since he personified the highest virtue. Muslims aims to stick to this practice in their daily routine by being corporative around the house and serving their family with affection and compassion. Muhammad (S.A.W) never abused or mistreated his wives and always treated them with the utmost regard and respect.

He stated that;

The best of you are those who are best to their wives.

In conclusion, Islam has a long history of defending women's civic rights in accordance with the precepts established by God and His Prophet. Under Islamic law, women are given a wide range of rights and protections as well as a respectable social status.
